Spring Catch-Up

Ah. Spring Break.

It took me a full weekend to recover from last week. I was worn smoooooth out. My main accomplishment those first few days was that I watched 5 movies. (Only one of them was really any good….that’s the way it goes when you play RedBox Roulette I guess.)

I did manage to resurface long enough to meet up with a couple of girlfriends to enjoy the beautiful weather with lunch & antiques…I am already loving this spring-y weather!

After church on Sunday I loaded up the car with this handsome guy and went down for a few days of R&R at my parents house.

Thought it was going to be my husband, didn’t ya? 😉

Both of my parents are teachers as well, so it was same song different verse. I basically just moved my lazy rear end from my couch to theirs. I did finish reading a heartwrenchingly good book…Yahshua’s Bridge. It is a sequel to The Master’s Wall, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It was so good that I’ve continued to think on it since finishing it, and have been challenged in my faith by it’s story. Definite must read!

While I was there we celebrated my Dad’s birthday. His only request was that I not make him a sprinkle cake….so we went with a delicious german chocolate cake instead. 🙂 I love him so much…more and more each year…and I’m proud to call him my daddy!

Since arriving home, I’ve been attacking our house with a vengeance. Spring cleaning, getting ready for a garage sale, making lists, paying bills, grocery shopping….all amidst napping and sleeping in. Gotta keep our priorities straight here. *wink*

Tomorrow continues with errands and such, then Mom is coming here for a few days of shopping and hanging out. Hooray!

So yep…that’s Spring Break 2013, Heather style. Nothing glamorous or overly exciting…just full of family, friends, resting, and catching up on life. And to be honest, it’s *exactly* what I’ve been needing. 🙂

KEEP CALM & ENJOY SPRING BREAK!

Spring Break Stats

Another spring break has come and gone, in all its *gloriousness*…here’s how mine went:

# of rooms cleaned: 10 (*including the garage!)

# of trash bags / boxes thrown away: 10 (*yikes…that makes us sound pretty trashy)

# of boxes donated: 1 (*but it was a big ‘un!)

# of boxes / crates for a garage sale: 5 (*not enough for a sale of my own, but I’m planning on teaming up!)

# of books read: 3 (*2 weren’t really much to speak of…1 is pretty smokin.)

# of banners made: 4 (*lovely & springy & Easter-y)

# of movies watched: 3 (*not really worth recommending)

# of get-togethers w/ friends & fam: 5 (*love all my peeps!)

# of bowling pins knocked down in my winning game: 148 (*oh yeah baby)

# of errands ran: 8 (*oh yikes, just thought of one I missed…bummer!)

# of times I hung out with my favorite niece: 2 (*movie afternoon / shopping afternoon…love girl time!)

# of hours I slept: haha…too many to count!

# of blog posts written / posted: 1/2 (*well that’s not totally true…I did get a couple ready for the new week)

Sorry about that last one…I thought I’d spend a lot of time writing, but it didn’t work out that way. Overall I’d say my spring break was practically perfect…I accomplished the things on my to-do list, got a lot of much needed rest, enjoyed some me time / husband time / family time / Huxley time / friend time, and was reminded time and time again of how blessed I really am. It didn’t feel like it flew by, and even though I know I’d make a pretty rockin’ housewife, I’m not overly sad about going back to work on Monday.

I mean, summer will be here before we know it, right?!

KEEP CALM & BUCKLE UP…BACK TO THE GRIND!

P.S. – I did get that printable grocery shopping list checked off of my to-do list also…but I did take the easy way out. 😉 Found this great free printable on pinterest…it’s easy to modify to fit your needs. Check it out! http://www.ishareprintables.com/grocery-list-tear-off-pad
